Waldorf Astoria, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai
Good day to all of you, we hope you had a great weekend so far. On the occasion of this year’s Middle East Hotel Awards, we had the pleasure to spent our Thursday night at the beautiful Waldorf Astoria on the Palm.
The property recently opened it’s doors and therefore it was just about right for them to host the Gala Dinner, celebrating fellow colleagues within the same industry.
The event started at 7pm with a beautiful cocktail reception in the pre-function area. However before we were able to attend the reception, we checked ourselves in, found on which table we would sit for the night and had a quick look of who would give us company for the evening.
Servicexcellence, was one of the #MEHA2015 judges this year, and therefore we shared our seat with fellow colleagues of the panel and their guests. It was a beautiful function, well prepared and nicely organized.
Overall there were about 300 guests attending the function, and therefore we were not surprised that the starters had already been placed on the table before we sat down. The starters were a combination of beetroot and Brie cheese.
It tasted well and was removed as soon as it had been plated. Once the starters were gone, about twenty casual staffs served the mains. Steak on vegetables and assorted zucchini and Portobello mushrooms for the vegetarians amongst us.
The food had been served during the first half of the ceremony and after a great starter and a main, were followed by a small selection of sweets. At about quarter past 8pm the overall spectacle was over. The service was quick, efficient and attentive. The decoration of the ballroom, the lightening, the overall ambiance of the Waldorf Astoria were just amazing.
From the beginning and welcome up to the farewell, the entire experience was delightful, elegant and great.
We would like to thank the organizers, the hotel team and the judging panel for the great evening and can only close our review with the friendly valet parker’s words: ‘Thank you for visiting the Waldorf Astoria, please come back soon!’
We will Richard, we will!
