Toko, Vida Hotel Dubai
Maki anyone? Oh my Lord, we found our most favourite Japanese cuisine place in Dubai. Yes, there are many, funky restaurants of all kinds. Toko, at the Vida Hotel however, is one of our new favourites.
We went there for a business lunch the other day, and had made a reservation. Not that it was busy during the week, the actual welcome however, due to the fact that we had a reservation was personal and friendly. The hostess must have expected us already, as she knew that our guests was not there yet and welcomed us, using our name. She informed us that our guest would be there soon and accompanied us to the table.
The restaurant and bar is fascinating. Filled with funky pieces of art and carefully chosen décor on the walls – Toko feels comfortable even before trying the food.
We were offered water and two menus while we were waiting. One of them was the usual a la carte menu, the other one a lunch menu to pick a few bites from. Our company arrived, we ordered some more water and chose salmon Maki, crispy salmon bites, honey glazed fish fillet and some Edamame to share. Wow, that’s all we can say – a big, fat WOW to the chefs. The food was amazing.
The waiter and his colleague came to check on us now and then, however did not disturb us too much and valued our privacy and the purpose of the meeting. Both of them asked if we enjoyed the food or needed anything else, in a very professional and decent manner.
It was a great experience, and we would go there more often, if it was not a little bit too pricy for a weekly Maki – treat.
Thank you, to the whole team at Toko for making us feel super special and feeding us on this day. It was a superb business lunch and we are already looking forward to our return.
