The Oberoi, Dubai

Today we had the pleasure of enjoying a nice cup of Cappuccino at The Oberoi, Dubai, lobby lounge. It was a beautiful day, not too hot and not too gloomy, our mood was great and the warm welcome by the hotel’s bell boy at the door just made us feel even more happy and relaxed. We were a bit early for our meeting and made us of the time to let the hotel’s ambiance effect and shine on us for a while. We found ourselves to be in a clean and calm environment, which reflected a touch of Indian hospitality mixed with an Arabic style and decor. Beautiful and elegant.

As said we were early, and sat alone for a while, until a gentleman offered us Arabic coffee and another gentleman came to welcome and acknowledge us, and asked if we wanted to have a look into the menu, his name was Yassin. We thanked both of them, one after the other, and informed them that we waited for another person to join and would get back to them on a later stage.

Later on, once we met the person we wanted to meet, the waiter approached us again, and we ordered our Cappuccino and a bottle of sparking water with him. It took less than 5 minutes for the beverages to arrive – one of Oberoi’s service standards, and the coffee was served with sugar on the side and a plate of fresh cookies, the water was served with ice and a slice of lime.

The service was friendly, humble and reminded us of one of the English High Tea services, introduced by the British and adopted by the Indian service industry.

Our meeting took around 45 minutes, and at the end of it, we had a short discussion about the experience and our impressions about the lobby lounge service. Overall we thought that the acknowledgement, welcome and beverage service was just perfect and up to five star standards, as once the drinks were served, waiters obviously showed enough understanding and empathy for their guests’ privacy and would not longer interrupt by offering their services, unless one establishes eye contact with them.

A great experience and nice, strong and aromatic cup of coffee this morning was exactly what we were looking for today, to keep us going when sharing our experiences with you.

We did not take pictures this time, but then again, if you happen to be at The Oberoi soon, feel free to share your experience with us, and add pictures if you want.

Happy weekend & keep exploring,
