Mercure Abu Dhabi Centre Hotel

Good day to all of you! We hope you had a successful week.

On the occasion on one of our trips to Abu Dhabi, we checked – in into the Mercure Abu Dhabi Centre Hotel. Located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the only blind spot the property has to face is the limited parking space. The hotel does not have a valet parking service, and therefore guests have to either make use of the paid parking (renewal of ticket every three hours) or the expensive garage next to the hotel (45 AED per day).

The location, surrounded by the Hamdan Mall, as well as a couple of Indian – owned grocery stores and some fast food restaurants is not the best. The hotel itself is quite old and with their 3* also not one of the most luxurious ones in town.

The hotel offers 7 food and beverage outlets for a total of 215 rooms only. Quite a lot of choice for their guests; we however, did only have the chance to order room service and visit the sports bar on one of the evenings. The room service menu is extensive and offers a range of continental and Arabic specialities, with quite a few vegetarian options. Our favourite was the vegetable lasagne served with French fries, as well as their vegetarian curry.

We had the chance to eat it quite a few times, and despite the fact that the room service staff always forgot to serve a spoon with the meal, the actual taste was divine. So delicious in fact, that we did not realize that with every bite we got sick more and more, and ended up with food poisoning for the next 3 days. How do we know?

It was the only meal we had for a whole day, and unfortunately it was the last as well for the following days in Abu Dhabi. We raised the issue with the staff and were consulted by the Hygiene Manager as well as the Duty Manager. Not only that they apologized, however they also showed us their hygiene records and kept checking on our well being for the rest of our stay with them.

Customer care and complaint handling at it’s best. The overall service and guests’ care is brilliant. From the front office personal to the valet parker, the housekeeping attendant and the service staff in their outlets – everyone made sure we felt welcome at all times.

Would we come back? Yes, if it was for a business trip we would. Would we suggest the hotel to anyone who looks for a place to stay in Abu Dhabi? Yes, if you are looking for a convenient budget option, with a great pool, super service in the heart of the city.

We thank the hotel staff for taking so much care of us, and wish the property all the best for the next (hopefully) hundred years of operating successfully.
