Meat Co – we met the new General Manager

We promised to be back and follow up, and as we keep our promises we gave Meat Co in Souk Madinat another chance!
And to our surprise it was outstanding this time. It seems like, some things do change and most of the times for the better! Thursday night was busy as usual and all tables on the Terrace were occupied, this time we reserved one in advance. The hostess took us there, handed over the menus and wished us a nice evening. Soon after Miss R approached us, said she would be our waitress for this evening and offered water. She asked if we want her to give her a recommendation of beverages, starters or mains, but as we have been there many times before, we said we would get back to her once we made up our minds. She was smiling, and had a very friendly personality. The lady from the Philippines had a very good English, spoke clear and made us laugh with a couple of her jokes through out the entire evening. As my friend was holding a cigarette in her hands, Miss R immediately brought us an ashtray and asked for our beverage order. Quite attentive and efficient this time!
We asked for a bottle of KWV Chardonnay and a little more time for our food order. Miss R informed us that the wine was unfortunately not available, as their supplier, so she said did not deliver anymore. However she came back with two different white wines, one Sauvignon and one Chardonnay and offered some to taste. The wine was great and as we went for fish, a good choice in the end.
Another waiter came and brought their famous warm, house made bread with raisins and potato pieces and butter.
While still looking at the menu and trying to make up our minds, all of a sudden someone joined our table. A smart, from the distance familiar looking gentlemen, introduced himself as Mustafa. Mustafa was the ‘new General Manager’. He greeted us friendly, welcomed us back and kindly asked about our well being. He offered his assistance to my friend for her choice of food and we ended up taking Beef Carpacchio as a starter to share, one Red Snapper fillet with creamy spinach on pumpkin and a Salmon fillet with black sesame crust on vegetables and fat chips. He wished us a great evening and left. Miss R, was outstanding through out the entire evening. She was attentive and took good care of us. But more importantly her way of talking and dealing with her guests was surprising. She was serving three more tables around us, and obviously we had to observe how she would act with others. All guests were laughing with her, she kept on making little jokes now and then and you could tell she enjoys her job. She had a very kind, friendly, yet humble way of taking care of her guests.
The food, well what to say. The Beef Carpaccio as well as the Salmon and Red Snapper fillets where amazing. The chips where a bit too much, but in the end the plates were empty and we sent our compliments to the Chef!

We were offered tea, coffee and dessert, but our stomach was full and we were more than happy.

I have to say, that despite our previous experience for lunch the other day, the dinner on Thursday night was great!

The Bad: this time we could not spot anything besides that we should have been told before that some wines were not available – but this is just a recommendation from our side!

The Good: we were surprised how great, smooth and attentive service was this time and delighted by Miss R’s kind way of serving us.

The food was delicious and the service this time was close to perfection!

We will be back and the next time choose fish for a starter and beef for a main.

Well done to Mustafa and his team, it seems like took over his new role as a General Manager quite well.
