La Postreria, Souk Al Bahar Dubai
We went for an early morning business meeting last week at the Souk Al Bahar in downtown Dubai. As it was that early in the morning and all we craved for was a hot cup of coffee, some chocolates to get our energy up and running and good service we headed to La Postreria on the second floor of the souk.
Upon entering the place, we were greeted friendly by the smart and elegantly dressed hostess from the Philippines. She welcomed up with a smile and took us on a small tour. As La Postreria also offered outdoor seating she also showed us their terrace and asked if we wanted to indoors or enjoy our coffee outside. We decided to sit indoors this time, as the cool, winter winds of Dubai blew strong this morning and we were afraid the coffee and ourselves to get cold too soon.
Once we took a seat, Mr. Mohamed, the manager approached us, greeted us friendly and handed over the extensive menu. He also offered us a variety of coffee to choose from and asked if we wanted to try some of their home-made pralines and chocolates.
We went for a hot cup of Cappuccino and an assorted mix of chocolates. What a delight. The chocolates just tasted as nice and delicate as the overall design of La Postreria looked like. The same person who decorated and designed the place must have either trained the pastry chefs who made these chocolates or at least hired them. The coffee was also served in no time at all and tasted far away from any full – or semi-automated coffee machine. It tasted like freshly brewed coffee made with love and passion.
A perfect combination of the berry, dark and white chocolate explosion in our mouth once the teeth cracked the outside layer of the chocolate pralines.
The experience we had this morning was just as brilliant as the meeting, and all in all left a very good impression with us. We will be back very soon, latest when the weather gets better and one can sit outside again, enjoying a nice, healthy lunch or dinner with friends and loved ones.
