Byblos Hotel, Tecom Dubai

Good day to all of you. We hope you are well and had a great start into the week. We started our week with a networking event which took place at the Byblos Hotel in Tecom, Dubai. The area is known to be filled with take – away restaurants, supermarkets, 3-4* hotels and residential buildings. The Byblos Hotel itself is known for the pub and other food & beverage outlets, the affordable rates and the five minutes walk to the metro station.

It has been there long before we arrived to Dubai, and we did have the chance to try out the pub once or twice for a quick, traditional lunch during the week. It was our first time however, to visit one of their meeting rooms.

We arrived at about 6:45 in the morning, and waited to be attended by one of the valet parkers, who were leaning against their desk and enjoying their morning cigarette. Even though we established eye contact with one of them, he did not show any willingness to assist us. We then moved the car a few meters closer, opened the window and asked him, if he was part of the valet parking team and able to take care of our car. He said: Yes, I could do that; and left to get a ticket.

When entering the hotel lobby in the morning, the front office team seemed to be quite demotivated too. Unfortunately none of them neither paid attention to us, nor greeted us in any way. Slightly confused and irritated, we finally made our way up to the meeting room on the first floor. The meeting room was spacious and suitable to accommodate about 30 people. A coffee break had been set up, however, none of the hotel’s employees was present there too.

We actually did not meet anyone until we went to the Al Dente Restaurant, where a huge English breakfast had been waiting for us. This was the first time, employees  took note of their guests, greeted us and asked how we were this morning. What a sign of relieve, we felt, when we noticed that some of the Byblos’ representatives actually demonstrate great customer service skills.

The networking was great, the breakfast delicious and the overall experience average. We would be delighted to assist the Byblos Management along their journey of achieving great customer service and hope to be meeting them in the near future.
