Business Lunch at Fumé

Happy weekend to all of you! We hope you had a great and productive week!
We recently had the pleasure of visiting Fumé, at Pier7 for a business lunch. ”The restaurant is set to become one of Dubai’s favorite eateries featuring uncomplicated, delicious yet refreshingly affordable food based on quality ingredients and served with passion in a relaxed, fun and vibrant environment.”

We arrived at about 1:30pm, and the place was adequately filled with young and old, with people in suits and tourists in sandals. Having visited Fumé before (during the evening operation), we were excited and curious about their business lunch offers and the vibe during the day.

The view across the Marina was just as stunning during the day, then at night. It felt like being a tourist in your city when watching the yachts and Dows (traditional wooden boats) shipping along the harbor. The bright and light decoration and atmosphere made us feel comfortable right away.

We took a seat (it was only the two of us) and were greeted by the manager who handed over the menus and offered us a bottle of water to start with. The business lunch offer includes a starter, a main course, and coffee for around 100 AED per person only. One could choose from 5 different starters, mains, and snacks.

We decided to order sweet-sour fried chicken, vegetarian pasta and braised beef with Eggs Benedict on top. The food was fantastic, even tough it took a while to arrive actually. The average time we waited was about 23 minutes, which was not too bad considering how busy Fumé was on that day.

There was one individual, Eric from Senegal who impressed us. He walked by consciously making an effort to check on the well-being of his guests. His attentive customer service skills and his positive attitude made him stand out from the crowd.

He approached us with a huge smile on his face, established eye contact before talking to us and asked us how we enjoyed our lunch. We shared our feedback and praised the chefs. One could feel that he was very proud of “his” restaurant – he was not the manager or owner, he did, however, take his role as customer service representative so serious that the following words came over his lips: “I am delighted that you had a great time. You should pass by my place more often. Coffee for you?”

We loved his attitude and the level of ownership he put on the table. Having said that, everyone at Fumé was super friendly, attentive and made our business lunch more than memorable.

Will we go back to Fumé one day! Oh, YES, we will, and we are looking forward to our next visit already! When was the last time you took a proper lunch break?
