Aprons & Hammers, DIMC
Looking for dinner on a dhow, serving crabs, lobster and calamari? Then the Aprons & Hammer next to Barasti Beach is the place to be. Finally we decided to make it down to Mina Seyhai, the Dubai International Marine Club. Luckily we made a reservation two days in advance for us to get a small table for two on the upper deck of the boat. On a Friday night, as we expected, the place was full with families and couples. The atmosphere was great and the hostess’ welcome fantastic. She opened the door for us, greeted us friendly, asked for our name and lead us to our table. She wished us a wonderful evening and left us again to attend others. A nice warm welcome. Seconds later, Brian our waiter greeted us and welcomed us by handing over the menus. Calamari and crab cakes for starters, a small bucket of crabs and a small platter of lobster was the order for tonight. The drinks were served in seconds and the starters took less than 10 minutes to arrive. Brian was a friendly and attentive, young gentleman who did his utmost best to accommodate us for the evening. Not only himself but othrr colleagues passed by to clear our table or just to check if we were happy and enjoying ourselves, and the food. The food was great. Especially the starters, even though in the end it turned out that we could not even finish our mains. The crabs were however a little more tiny than expected. Not a lot of meet to find in them, even when hammering on the shell to get out the most of it. Luckily we were given aprons before our mains were served, as pieces of shell and crabs flew around. As usual when our better half joins dinner it was a lovely evening, just fantastic. This time however, looking at each other and observing others when trying to open up their crabs and lobsters was quite entertaining on top. Ee had fun! Overall the service was quick and attentive, the food great and the atmosphere on the upper deck of the small floating restaurant fantastic. Will we return? Of course we will, next time with a bigger crowed to test who is the best making use of aprons and hammers.
Thanks a lot.
